| Dear Valued Hikari Customer, In almost every industry that manufactures name-brand goods, you will find fake or counterfeit items. As we are all aware, the salon industry is no different. Our company has seen many counterfeit Hikari scissors in the past 25 years. However, with the recent increase in customer complaints, we find it necessary to remind our customers of these illegal activities. |
| Beware of counterfeit Hikari scissors Due to the popularity and recognition of Hikari brand scissors, there are companies that specialize in making counterfeit Hikari scissors. Below are pictures of a fake Hikari scissor offered for sale on Ebay. This same scissor is also being sold directly to salons by local scissor salespeople/sharpeners. |
| Notice how this counterfeit scissor actually bears the name "Hikari" and the Hikari logo? It also has the model name "Beam" stamped on the blade in order to mimic an actual Hikari Beam scissor. To further deceive the consumer, the backside of the scissor is marked "Made in Japan". This scissor is actually an inexpensive, inferior quality scissor. Its origin is probably China, Taiwan, or Pakistan. The scissor is worth no more than $80, yet was offered for sale at $250. | ![]() |

| Don't fall for claims that the scissor is "just like" a Hikari There are rumors that former employees of Hikari are making scissors for various big-name companies like TIGI, Paul Mitchell, AVEDA, etc. They claim the scissor will perform "just like" a Hikari because these former Hikari workers are making the shears. This statement is completely false! Former employees of the Hikari factory that stay in the industry and sell shears are now working with other scissor manufacturers. They are not making the scissors themselves. Thus the shears they are selling are actually made by a totally different scissor factory, not Hikari. The materials and methods to make these shears are not the same as the Hikari factory in Japan. Our technicians have sharpened many of these scissors and the materials/craftsmanship are inferior compared to an authentic Hikari scissor. We have received many complaints from customers who were disappointed in the performance of these private-label brands because they thought it would perform like a Hikari. Please be aware that any scissor made by the Hikari factory in Japan, will have "Hikari" stamped on the scissor, and will only be sold through current, authorized Hikari distributors. Counterfeit scissors are not only misleading and illegal, but are also a detriment to the entire beauty industry. It is ultimately you, the stylist, who is most negatively affected by counterfeit scissors. Therefore, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone (1-800-445-2747) or email (info@hikariscissors.com) should you suspect a company or individual is marketing/selling counterfeit Hikari scissors. For a verified referral to an authorized Hikari distributor, please call customer service at 1-800-445-2747. Thank you for your continued support of Hikari Products. Sincerely, Hikari Products, Inc. |
